Hello followers. I have a self-care section in my blog because I really believe all people (not just nurses) should take care of themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I love the movie Eat, Pray, Love for so many different reason. This movie tells the story of Liz Gilbert. This woman runs herself into the ground when it comes to life, work, her marriage etc. She losses all passion for life. She decides to travel for one year living in Rome, India, and Bali. During this time she realizes that she has missed a lot of life’s pleasures and lessons. During her travel she learns to enjoy food, friends, nature, art, beauty and herself again. It’s a true eye opener and reminds us to live life to the fullest every day. Check out this great movie starring Julia Roberts. I think you’ll love it. Thanks T-Tech Nurse.
Hello followers. I found a wearable fertility tracking tool. It’s called the Ava Ovulation bracelet. The Ava is clinical backed by the FDA and is said to predict 5.3 days of fertility, suitable for cycle lengths of 24-35 days, and is 89% accurate at tracking fertility days. The Ava tracks not just one variable when a woman is trying to conceive but many including resting pulse rate, skin temperature, and heart rate variability while the woman is sleeping.
The Ava was studied for one year at the University Hospital of Zunich. Unlike other fertility tracking methods, Ava detects changes that occur at the beginning of the fertile window as well as after ovulation. According to the website you won’t need multiple fertility methods such as basal body temp, which only gives you a piece of the whole picture.
In May of 2017 the bracelet was published in the Scientific Reports and has won several awards according the website. It is said to be user friendly and is worn just like a watch. The app has to be linked to your phone and it records your menstrual phase, sleep, stress, and resting heart rate. You can also track your weight and read pregnancy content through the app. It cost about $200 in the U.S and is readily available.
This gadget might very well be the future of fertility and trying to get pregnant. I think it’s absolutely adorable. Congratulations to the creators on their great success and hopefully lots of babies will be born with the help of AVA.
Hello followers. I found a technologically advanced water bottle for children. Bowhead technologies has created the Gululu interactive water bottle that helps little ones stay hydrated. I found this product on Amazon. According to the website this bottle will help children want to drink more water. It has a built in screen where they can choose a pet and watch it grow while drinking water during the day. The Gululu also has a path that the children can reach as their getting closer to their goals and calculates the amount of water your child needs based on height and weight.
This water bottle is very cute and colorful coming in bowhead blue, submarine yellow, and mermaid pink. Best of all the company donates clean water to children in need around the globe for every purchase. The price might turn some people off because it’s about $130. If you have the extra cash, why not spend it to do something great for your child’s health. Parents can link their child’s Gululu to their phones and monitor their progress each day.
If another child has one your child can interact with them by placing the bottles next to one another. The Gululu is washable and according to Amazon reviews is quite durable. Trying to get a child to drink water can be a daunting task. This gadget could make it easier. If that isn’t enough a study conducted by Harvard School of Health, that included 4,000 children (ages 6-10 years) found that more than half of the participants weren’t getting enough hydration. Nearly a quarter of the participants reported drinking no plain water at all. Dehydration can lead to problems with physical, cognitive, and emotional health.
I think the Gululu is absolutely adorable and if you have extra cash it would be a great present of any child. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always folks be safe. Hello followers. I wanted to talk to you about another Nightingale movie that I discovered. I like to call Florence Nightingale Flo. Jackie Smith (too cute and the cutest Charlie’s Angel in my opinion) gives a stellar performance as one of the most legendary nurses in history. She is intelligent, beautiful, kind and ambitious as Flo. She is part of England’s wealthy society but has a heart and compassion for those who are ill and in need. This story tells of Flo’s life and career before the Crimean War and how she focused on educating nurses about nutrition, cleanliness, medication labeling, safety and professionalism. She was disliked by some but did not allow that to stop her. The costumes, props, and sets are wonderful in this movie. Another shout out to Flo. As always folks be safe. Hello followers. Quick post here. I want to introduce some of you to multipurpose spray. This spray can be used on electronics and most surfaces. The reason I bought it is because I can use it on my TV, keyboards, desktops, phone, and tablet. It removes dust and allergens found in dust. It doesn’t leave a residue or greasy feeling. According to adverstisement it kills 99% of bacteria, germs, and some viruses (the nurse in me loves that). The best thing is that it has a lovely citrus scent and makes cleaning a lot easier. Dust bunnies goodbye. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always folks be safe. Consult your physician prior to starting any new regimen, program, treatment and or medications /products. Hello followers. I want to talk to you about Withings (Now Nokia) wireless blood pressure cuff. I like this blood pressure cuff because you can connect and have all the recordings stored in your iPhone. The app records your blood pressure readings but has other fun features such as sharing with friends and keeping track of your walking steps. It also connects your to the online store where they have lots of fun and cool gadgets for you to shop for online. This blood pressure cuff does not need a stethoscope. It has one button that you push to start. The cuff comes with a charger similar to an iPhone and has instructions as easy as 123. I think this neat gadget might be the future of blood pressure cuffs.
