Ava Fertility Bracelet

By | Health, Technology | No Comments

Image result for ava fertility braceletHello followers. I found a wearable fertility tracking tool. It’s called the Ava Ovulation bracelet. The Ava is clinical backed by the FDA and is said to predict 5.3 days of fertility, suitable for cycle lengths of 24-35 days, and is 89% accurate at tracking fertility days. The Ava tracks not just one variable when a woman is trying to conceive but many including resting pulse rate, skin temperature, and heart rate variability while the woman is sleeping.

The Ava was studied for one year at the University Hospital of Zunich. Unlike other fertility tracking methods, Ava detects changes that occur at the beginning of the fertile window as well as after ovulation. According to the website you won’t need multiple fertility methods such as basal body temp, which only gives you a piece of the whole picture.

In May of 2017 the bracelet was published in the Scientific Reports and has won several awards according the website. It is said to be user friendly and is worn just like a watch. The app has to be linked to your phone and it records your menstrual phase, sleep, stress, and resting heart rate. You can also track your weight and read pregnancy content through the app. It cost about $200 in the U.S and is readily available.

This gadget might very well be the future of fertility and trying to get pregnant. I think it’s absolutely adorable. Congratulations to the creators on their great success and hopefully lots of babies will be born with the help of AVA.

Period Diary App

By | Health, Self Care, Technology | No Comments

Image result for Period diaryHello followers. I have been using the period diary app for over two years now. As you know keeping track of your menstrual cycle is important. I like this app because it stores all the information that you put into the app. I have data going all the way back to 2015. This app will tell you when to expect aunt flo. You can make notes on how your feel on any given day of your cycle including acne breakouts, cramps, headache, cravings and all the little pesky things that come along with your cycle. It will tell you you’re most fertile and non-fertile days of the month. You can use the tools in this app if you’re trying to prevent pregnancy or conceive. There’s also a blog for making posts and reading/telling jokes. If you get bored with the colors inside the app you can change them to your liking anytime you want. This is just a fun way that I cheer myself up and not dread aunt flo every month. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always folks be safe. Nurses Have Dry Hands

By | Health, Nursing, Self Care | No Comments

Related imageHello followers. I wanted to recommend another great product from Mary Kay. It’s called Night Emollient Cream. Dry hands are a part of nursing and is unfortunate at times, but we have to practice excellent hand hygiene at all times. I use this product day or night for my hands, face, and body. I already have pretty dry skin to begin with and it’s especially dry in the winter months. I use it for intense skin hydration or a smaller amount for a quick pick me up. Good hand hygiene is imperative in nursing and really for everyone. Soap, water, and hand sanitizer can all wreak havoc on your skin causing it to dry out and at times crack. My favorite time to use this great product is right before bedtime. I can rub it into my hands and let the product soak in overnight and when I wake up in the morning my hands are super soft and look refreshed. The formula is light weight and gentle on skin. A small amount goes a long way so the bottle will last a long time and you’ll get your money’s worth. Contact your local Mary Kay consultant to buy or you can email me I can put you in touch with my personal consultant. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always be safe folks. Drink Up

By | Health, Self Care | No Comments

Hello followers. T-Tech Nurse here again. I want to talk to you about this simple fluid called water. We underestimate this important but overlooked nutrient in our lives. Let’s face it folks we can’t survive without water. Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated ( Dehydration can lead to a host of issues including: fatigue, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, and moodiness. Not drinking enough water can also lead to urinary tract infections and other kidney issues. Mayo Clinic website ( states that are our bodies are made up of about 60% percent water and even a little dehydration can decrease our energy levels.

Water helps to lubricate our brains, muscles, joints, and tendons. It’s like motor oil for your vehicle. Nurses such as myself are guilty of not drinking enough water daily. I have been improving over the last two years. I usually take in about 1.5 liters of water per day. This isn’t bad for a college student who used to drink about 100 ounces of soda per day (Yikes!). According to the Breaking Muscle website article, there are 10 Life-Changing Reasons to Drink More Water, the benefits are as follows:

  • If you don’t drink water you will die
  • Prevent cancer
  • Be less cranky
  • Perform better athletically
  • Lose weight
  • Have less joint pain
  • Flush out waste and bacteria
  • Prevent headaches
  • Make you skin glow
  • Feed your body

I have experienced better moods, improved work outs, less headaches, and glowing skin, since I started drinking more water. Most people usually use the eight-eight ounce rule for staying hydrated by drinking water. Another good rule of thumb is, watching the color of your urine. It should be a pale yellow color or almost clear. Another fun way to keep up with your water intake is to use a free app such as Water Balance (see my article below). A woman oversees posted before and after photos of her facial and skin improvements by drinking three liters of water for 28 days. This can’t possibly be light and camera angles. I myself have noticed better looking skin, hair, and nails since I started drinking more water. This woman basically had a natural face lift. Check out the pictures at ( Drink Up. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. (As always followers please be sure to consult your health care provider before starting, interrupting or stopping any health regimen).

The Cephaly

By | Health, Technology | No Comments

The FDA has approved its first migraine headache prevention device. It’s called the Cephaly. If you know migraines like I do, they can be quite painful and debilitating.  This new device runs on battery and rest across the ears and forehead, just above the eyes. According to Wed MD it applies an electric current to the skin and underlying tissues to stimulate the trigeminal nerve. The Cephaly is said to be only for adults to use about 20 minutes per day. It available by prescription only.

So, what it a migraine headache? Migraines are thought to be a neurological condition caused by over excitation of specific brain areas. The American Migraine Foundation states that migraines affect 36million Americans. They cost Americans about $20 billion annually in medical cost and lost productivity. Currently there is no cure for migraine at this time. Therapy is aimed to prevention and keeping the number of migraine days as low as possible. I currently take an anti-migraine medication called imitrex, propranolol and allergy pill to prevent migraine headaches. Some migraine triggers that I have experienced myself is excessively loud noises, bright lights, dehydration (see my Drink More Water article and Water Balance App Article) lack of sleep, excessive heat or cold, etc.

The Cephaly is said to be safe and effective. According to the Cephaly website ( the electrodes that are applied to the skin can be used multiple times. The device itself should not cause pain and most people get used to the sensation very quickly. Some of the contraindications include having a pacemaker, metal implants in the body and pregnancy. The website reports that 81% of regular users are satisfied, have decreased use in medications by -75% and a decrease in migraine headaches of -77%. This device reminds me of something on the X-Men movies, but if it works it works. (As always folks be safe. Juice Plus Products

By | Health, Self Care | No Comments

Juice PlusHello followers.  One of the topics that I like to discuss on my blog is self care.  Self care should be practiced not just by nurses but by all people. Everyone is told from a young age to eat your fruits and vegetables. Most people can’t eat the recommended servings of fruits and veggies daily. Most of us need some help in the area of nutrition because of the everyday business of life such as work, school, kids, projects, family, etc. We know that we should get the recommended amount but we just don’t. The CDC recommends that adults whom engage in less than thirty minutes of exercise daily should consume 1.5-2.0 cups of fruit and 2-3 cups of vegetables daily. Seventy six percent of Americans did not meet the fruit requirements and eighty seven percent did not meet the vegetable requirements, according to the CDC article Adults Meeting Fruit and Vegetable Intake Recommendations –United States 2013.

I admit that I don’t get the recommended amount. How can Americans do better with consuming more fruits and veggies? I have been taking a product called Juice Plus since March of this year and it has made a huge difference in my everyday life. Juice Plus is not a vitamin. Juice Plus is made from real fruits and veggies from organic produce that is dehydrated and turned into a capsule or chewable.  Vegetables and fruits included in the product but not limited to are as follows:

Acerola cherry

There are over thirty fruits and vegetables in these products ladies and gentlemen. We all agree that fruits and vegetable are good for us. This product has made major changes in my life such as more energy, improved sleep, and better looking hair, skin, and nails. There is nothing artificial about or in Juice Plus products. The company invests in research to show proof that their products are beneficial. Children can also take Juice Plus. When an adult buys Juice Plus a child can be added for free to the adults order. The child will be a part of the Juice Plus Study and the parent just has to fill out a survey occasionally to show how Juice Plus has improved the child’s life. The company has found that 96% of Juice Plus children were showing some kind of benefit such as drinking more water, eating less fast food and soft drinks, and missing less days of school. Juice Plus has made such a tremendous change in my life.

The company also offers a plant based protein shake and a garden tower than can be moved into the house and grown year around. I wrote this article because I know there are people looking for a product like this and I want to share this product with as many people as I can. My stamina, workouts, endurance, strength, and concentration have all improved with these products. Juice plus comes in orchard, garden, and vineyard blends. I recommend taking all three to get the full benefits. Juice Plus is not a quick fix product. You need to give this product at least three months to work and get the best results. Juice Plus is affordable and cost about $2.50 per day for all three blends. The company also gives you the choice to make monthly payments if you can’t pay for it all upfront.   If you are interested please email me at As always stay safe folks. Consult your healthcare provider before starting, stopping or interrupting any healthcare regimen. Thanks and enjoy. Ttech-Nurse.
