Hello followers. I have a self-care section in my blog because I really believe all people (not just nurses) should take care of themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I love the movie Eat, Pray, Love for so many different reason. This movie tells the story of Liz Gilbert. This woman runs herself into the ground when it comes to life, work, her marriage etc. She losses all passion for life. She decides to travel for one year living in Rome, India, and Bali. During this time she realizes that she has missed a lot of life’s pleasures and lessons. During her travel she learns to enjoy food, friends, nature, art, beauty and herself again. It’s a true eye opener and reminds us to live life to the fullest every day. Check out this great movie starring Julia Roberts. I think you’ll love it. Thanks T-Tech Nurse.
Hello followers. I have been using the period diary app for over two years now. As you know keeping track of your menstrual cycle is important. I like this app because it stores all the information that you put into the app. I have data going all the way back to 2015. This app will tell you when to expect aunt flo. You can make notes on how your feel on any given day of your cycle including acne breakouts, cramps, headache, cravings and all the little pesky things that come along with your cycle. It will tell you you’re most fertile and non-fertile days of the month. You can use the tools in this app if you’re trying to prevent pregnancy or conceive. There’s also a blog for making posts and reading/telling jokes. If you get bored with the colors inside the app you can change them to your liking anytime you want. This is just a fun way that I cheer myself up and not dread aunt flo every month. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always folks be safe. Hello followers. I wanted to tell you about another great Mary Kay product. It’s called Mint Bliss. I use it on a regular basis. The nursing profession can require long hours as do other professions. At work you can be on your feet all day and need something soothing. This is the perfect product because it’s gentle and light weight plus is smells wonderful. I rub it on my shoulders, feet, neck, and arms even though the product is says it’s for legs. It soothes with a menthol sensation and can even be put on through your stockings. I keep it in my purse because sometimes I use it on the go. I truly recommend this product to all professions male or female. Contact your local Mary Kay consultant or you can email me for my consultants contact information. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always be safe folks. Consult your physician prior to starting any new regimen, treatment, and or medications and products. T-Tech Nurse is not a paid sponsor for any products at this time.
Hello followers. I wanted to recommend another great product from Mary Kay. It’s called Night Emollient Cream. Dry hands are a part of nursing and is unfortunate at times, but we have to practice excellent hand hygiene at all times. I use this product day or night for my hands, face, and body. I already have pretty dry skin to begin with and it’s especially dry in the winter months. I use it for intense skin hydration or a smaller amount for a quick pick me up. Good hand hygiene is imperative in nursing and really for everyone. Soap, water, and hand sanitizer can all wreak havoc on your skin causing it to dry out and at times crack. My favorite time to use this great product is right before bedtime. I can rub it into my hands and let the product soak in overnight and when I wake up in the morning my hands are super soft and look refreshed. The formula is light weight and gentle on skin. A small amount goes a long way so the bottle will last a long time and you’ll get your money’s worth. Contact your local Mary Kay consultant to buy or you can email me I can put you in touch with my personal consultant. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. As always be safe folks. Consult your physician prior to starting any new regimen, program, treatment, and or new medications/products. T-Tech Nurse is not a paid sponsor for any product at this time.
Hello followers. T-Tech Nurse here again. I want to talk to you about this simple fluid called water. We underestimate this important but overlooked nutrient in our lives. Let’s face it folks we can’t survive without water. Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated (medicaldaily.com)? Dehydration can lead to a host of issues including: fatigue, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, and moodiness. Not drinking enough water can also lead to urinary tract infections and other kidney issues. Mayo Clinic website (mayoclinic.org) states that are our bodies are made up of about 60% percent water and even a little dehydration can decrease our energy levels.
Water helps to lubricate our brains, muscles, joints, and tendons. It’s like motor oil for your vehicle. Nurses such as myself are guilty of not drinking enough water daily. I have been improving over the last two years. I usually take in about 1.5 liters of water per day. This isn’t bad for a college student who used to drink about 100 ounces of soda per day (Yikes!). According to the Breaking Muscle website article, there are 10 Life-Changing Reasons to Drink More Water, the benefits are as follows:
- If you don’t drink water you will die
- Prevent cancer
- Be less cranky
- Perform better athletically
- Lose weight
- Have less joint pain
- Flush out waste and bacteria
- Prevent headaches
- Make you skin glow
- Feed your body
I have experienced better moods, improved work outs, less headaches, and glowing skin, since I started drinking more water. Most people usually use the eight-eight ounce rule for staying hydrated by drinking water. Another good rule of thumb is, watching the color of your urine. It should be a pale yellow color or almost clear. Another fun way to keep up with your water intake is to use a free app such as Water Balance (see my article below). A woman oversees posted before and after photos of her facial and skin improvements by drinking three liters of water for 28 days. This can’t possibly be light and camera angles. I myself have noticed better looking skin, hair, and nails since I started drinking more water. This woman basically had a natural face lift. Check out the pictures at (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2480491/How-drinking-litres-water-day-took-years-face.html). Drink Up. Thanks T-Tech Nurse. (As always followers please be sure to consult your health care provider before starting, interrupting or stopping any health regimen).
Hello followers. One of the topics that I like to discuss on my blog is self care. Self care should be practiced not just by nurses but by all people. Everyone is told from a young age to eat your fruits and vegetables. Most people can’t eat the recommended servings of fruits and veggies daily. Most of us need some help in the area of nutrition because of the everyday business of life such as work, school, kids, projects, family, etc. We know that we should get the recommended amount but we just don’t. The CDC recommends that adults whom engage in less than thirty minutes of exercise daily should consume 1.5-2.0 cups of fruit and 2-3 cups of vegetables daily. Seventy six percent of Americans did not meet the fruit requirements and eighty seven percent did not meet the vegetable requirements, according to the CDC article Adults Meeting Fruit and Vegetable Intake Recommendations –United States 2013.
I admit that I don’t get the recommended amount. How can Americans do better with consuming more fruits and veggies? I have been taking a product called Juice Plus since March of this year and it has made a huge difference in my everyday life. Juice Plus is not a vitamin. Juice Plus is made from real fruits and veggies from organic produce that is dehydrated and turned into a capsule or chewable. Vegetables and fruits included in the product but not limited to are as follows:
There are over thirty fruits and vegetables in these products ladies and gentlemen. We all agree that fruits and vegetable are good for us. This product has made major changes in my life such as more energy, improved sleep, and better looking hair, skin, and nails. There is nothing artificial about or in Juice Plus products. The company invests in research to show proof that their products are beneficial. Children can also take Juice Plus. When an adult buys Juice Plus a child can be added for free to the adults order. The child will be a part of the Juice Plus Study and the parent just has to fill out a survey occasionally to show how Juice Plus has improved the child’s life. The company has found that 96% of Juice Plus children were showing some kind of benefit such as drinking more water, eating less fast food and soft drinks, and missing less days of school. Juice Plus has made such a tremendous change in my life.
The company also offers a plant based protein shake and a garden tower than can be moved into the house and grown year around. I wrote this article because I know there are people looking for a product like this and I want to share this product with as many people as I can. My stamina, workouts, endurance, strength, and concentration have all improved with these products. Juice plus comes in orchard, garden, and vineyard blends. I recommend taking all three to get the full benefits. Juice Plus is not a quick fix product. You need to give this product at least three months to work and get the best results. Juice Plus is affordable and cost about $2.50 per day for all three blends. The company also gives you the choice to make monthly payments if you can’t pay for it all upfront. If you are interested please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. As always stay safe folks. Consult your healthcare provider before starting, stopping or interrupting any healthcare regimen. Thanks and enjoy. Ttech-Nurse.
Happy New Year to all my followers. Some of you may have health and fitness goals for New Year Resolutions. This will be a great tool to help you reach your goals. The Water Balance App is a great and fun tool to keep track of your daily water intake. I use it every day to help me stay encouraged and hydrated. This app is completely free and can be downloaded to your smartphone. The app first calculates the amount of water that you need by your sex, height, age and weight. It will give you notifications throughout your day to remind you to drink water and record it. This app even gives you ribbons for completing certain tasks such as drinking your calculated amount consistently for a certain amount of days. Each day starts with a body figure that is empty. Once you start recording the amount of water it fills and tells you the percentage.
The app has different categories to choose from such as water, juice, milk, tea, coffee, etc. You simply push the category, the amount in milliliters, and then the replenish button. It will automatically record your water intake on a grid and you can tap on the bar and it will tell you how much you had for a particular day for up to one year. You can learn fast facts about drinking more water and earn a ribbon once you have read them all. As always folks be safe. Consult your healthcare provider before starting, stopping, or interrupting any health regimen. Thanks and Enjoy. T-Tech Nurse.
